what is the difference in this and a video camera?
I am just asking... are these photos taken at the same time? On the same night? Did the video camera not work? Am I missing something?
(I mean, apparently, I AM- I am just asking you to tell me what)

These are things that happen over a long period of time. Things you don't register as motion if you watch them because they take so long. So individual still shots are taken and the frames sequenced like a movie.
