Dark Side of the Rainbow

Remember back in the 70s when the cool thing was to watch Wizard of Oz while listening to Dark Side of the Moon and smoking pot? Me, neither. In case you missed it, you can read up on the synchronicity of the experience on Wikipedia.

Then you can watch the movie while listening to the album. (Not sure how long it will be availble since both the movie and the album are copyrighted material.)

Honda Civic w/Choir - Take 2

A spoof on the Honda commercial, evidently to advertise some kind of directory service. These guys have more videos here and here. This is the kind of stuff I thought was hilarious when I was in college. I still find it pretty amusing.

Honda Civic w/Choir - Take 1

I'm fascinated with commercials. This one uses a choir to emualte the sounds of the car.

Benny Hinn and the Magic Jacket

No comment. If I start, I might never stop. Courtesy of The Daily Show.

If this fascinates you in a train-wreck kind of way, you don't want to miss Mrs. Hinn's expositional preaching.

Zoomerang

Now you can make your own cool-looking web-based surveys for free.

However, if you want more than 100 participants or 30 questions you'll have to go to the paid version, which is $599/year. (Non-profit/educational version is $350.) Also for the free version the results for a survey expire after 10 days.

To check out an example, take this survey I created: Wunderfool Reading Survey.

The Elements Song

Tom Lehrer wrote satirical songs in the mid-20th century, great stuff like Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, The Masochism Tango, The Vatican Rag and The Old Dope Peddler.

The Elements Song is a listing of the elements set to the tune of the Major General song from Pirates of Penzanze. It's slightly amusing compared to his more scathing work.

Got a project you need to draw up before you start cutting? This 3D modeling tool is free and easy to use. After 30 minutes with the tutorials, you'll know all you need to make some pretty sophisticated models.

The Feral Cat Olympics

I don't know if there is any TV more bizarre than Japanese TV. It almost makes me want to learn Japanese. I enjoyed "The Happy Family Plan" (Shiawase Kazoku Keikaku) because it gave you a glimpse into the actual home life of the contestants as the father spent a week learning to master a skill. But I but had to quit watching it because I couldn't take the disappointment when they lost, which they did quite often. I have enough disappointment in my life without importing more from Japan.

This particular video appears to be a sort of feral-cat Olympics. The best part is that the commentary sounds like typical sports commentary and analysis. I can just imagine them comparing the styles and analyzing techniques. The only thing that would make it better would be subtitles.

Bombay TV

The things people come up with on the internet never cease to amaze me. Now you can provide your own subtitles for a movie clip. The only limit is your imagination.

Here's an example.

The Birds

Scott Fraser is evidently a serious birder. If you don't believe it, spend some time on his blog. But the blog didn't earn a spot on the Wunderfool blog. This two minute video of starlings going crazy did. More detail on the event here.

Juggling choreographed to the Beatles "Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / End" medley from Abbey Road. Chris Bliss is mainly a comedian who also juggles. He may not be the most accomplished juggler, but his style and passion make this video a must see.

Base Jump Suit

The first time I saw this, the soundtrack was an instrumental -- "On the Run" (the helicopter song from Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon"), a much better choice than "Aeroplane" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

All Your Base Are Belong To Us

Classic geek/gamer video.

The Japanese video game, Zero Wing, from Toaplan had a short video intro was added when it was released for the Sega Genesis. The (poorly translated) subtitles (see below) were worthy of posting on www.engrish.com.

One phrase in particular resonated with the gamer culture and it took on a life independent of the game. The photos are amusing and pulled together into a video montage with a techno soundtrack. (Video 1) and a Bohemian Rhapshody parody (Video 3).

Holy Ghost Enema

This is a classic. Mrs. Hinn, wife of the famed TV preacher, in an ecstatic moment. You may be surprised to learn that occasionally you might require a Holy Ghost Enema. I find the video an interesting study in feedback loops and escalation of reinforced behavior.

Public Access TV Gone Horribly Wrong

This is so bizarre there simply aren't any words to express it. It is evidently a public access TV program in Southern California produced by alien-obsessed Christian Scientists using a cast of puppets (Mr. Grey Spaceman!, Chip the Black Boy! and Otto Kaiser) and a human. (At least, I think he's human.) This thing is so wrong on so many levels that the mind boggles. In fact, I challenge you to find something that is right about it.

Extra points for anyone who can make it through the whole thing.
